ITS UPGRADE TIME

Time has come for me to upgrade my cellphone contract and i’m  having a crisis. I really love blackberry but what they have on the market at the moment is not comparable to the iphones and the androids . At the peak of the androids we have the Samsung Galaxy S III a beast of a phone that comes with a  quad core processor and Android 4.0 ICS . Its the best Android phone at the moment and some say its  better than the iphone 4 S . Also on  the android camp we have the HTC One X a phone  with the  best customized android  UI and also comes with with a quad core processor and android 4.0. There is nothing really that separates these phones , but i would prefer a Samsung because they have a better chance of unseating the iPhone as the best in the industry.

After having bought an iPad in Dec 2012 , i had a chance to experience iOS and i was really impressed with the simpleness of the UI . Everything just works for iOS and i really love using the iPad . Apple in iOS have the best OS in the industry at the moment . This has created a crisis for me as i am tempted to wait for the iPhone 5 , but i cant do that because it will probably be released in SA  2 months after its official release in the US , which may mean waiting until Dec 2012 and i cant  keep using my old Blackberry 9700 bold as its giving me a hard time with its constant freezing and memory leaks .

Blackberry currently is not an option as the phones they have on the market are lagging in many features . Upgrading to a newer blackberry would mean waiting another 2 years before i can upgrade and i cant wait for  BB 10 as its not certain when its ever gonna be released . The Bold 9900 is a great phone yes, for a new smartphone user, and if you have never used  a BB before . I really hope RIM come out with their  guns blazing when they release their BB 10 as we desperately need a third option .

That’s my crisis folks , but as it stands i leaning towards a Galaxy  S  III .

Press Release

WATERLOO, ONTARIO–(Marketwire – August 02, 2012) – Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM)(TSX: RIM) today launched the new 4G LTE BlackBerry PlayBook tablet with built-in support for cellular networks. The new 4G LTE BlackBerry PlayBook maintains a sleek and ultra-portable form while delivering overall faster performance over the original BlackBerry PlayBook, as well as support for blazing fast 4G LTE networks. Launching in Canada first, the new 4G LTE BlackBerry PlayBook allows customers to work more productively and connect to the Internet, as well as access their email, on-line apps, media and content, from more places than ever.

“We’re excited to bring customers the first BlackBerry PlayBook tablet with support for 4G LTE networks,” said David J. Smith, Executive Vice President, Mobile Computing at Research In Motion. “The new 4G LTE BlackBerry PlayBook offers a broad range of premium features, including a stunning 7 inch display, front and rear facing HD video cameras, HDMI out and stereo speakers, and it also offers premium performance on high speed cellular networks, helping customers to be more productive than ever and to make the most of their time on the go.”

Featuring the latest BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2 software, the 4G LTE BlackBerry PlayBook tablet gives customers access to high speed mobile networks around the world (LTE and HSPA+)(1) and offers an exceptional, high-fidelity, fast web experience that supports more HTML5 functionality than any other native tablet browser on the market(2). The powerful unified inbox allows users to easily manage multiple personal and work email accounts, as well as messages from Twitter®, Facebook® and LinkedIn, all in one place. The built-in Calendar and Contacts apps offer features to help customers better manage schedules and prepare for more effective meetings. Plus, the apps’ unique integration with social networks can provide customers with a wealth of information about their contacts at their fingertips.

The 4G LTE BlackBerry PlayBook tablet is also enterprise ready. It can be easily managed with BlackBerry Mobile Fusion and includes BlackBerry® Balance technology, which allows a user to use a BlackBerry PlayBook for both work and personal purposes by keeping business information highly secure and separate from personal information.

Out of the box, the 4G LTE BlackBerry PlayBook tablet comes preloaded with the tools customers need to be productive as well as to have fun, whether in the office, at home or on the road. Thousands of apps for work and play are also available on the BlackBerry App World storefront, such as the recently launched BlackBerry Video Store for all PlayBook customers in Canada, bringing additional functionality and value to customers. The BlackBerry Video Store offers a catalog of thousands of movies and TV shows. Customers can begin watching media as soon as they start to download a file, so they won’t have to wait for the entire file to transfer before they can begin enjoying great entertainment on the tablet’s high resolution display or on an HDTV using the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet’s HDMI output. Canadians can download the free Video Store app on BlackBerry App World.

The 4G LTE BlackBerry PlayBook tablet will come with 32GB of memory storage and will be available from Bell, Rogers and TELUS in Canada on August 9, 2012. Additional variants of the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet supporting various high speed cellular networks are expected to be available in the coming months from carriers in the US, Europe, South Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.

BGR’s BIASED REPORTING EXPOSED

The Boy Genius Report (BGR) a blog founded by Jonathan S Geller was exposed yesterday as nothing but an immature blog with nothing constructive to offer. Geller apparently went on a twitter rant because he was not given the Blackberry Alpha Device.

To our knowledge Geller is not a developer but a mere blogger , so he shouldn’t be complaining for not getting a device. His rants really showed he is immature and he really needs to grow up. It was a total embarrassment for him . He thought he was gonna get support from his readers but they turned the table on him accusing him of nonobjective and biased reporting .

Of the more than 135 comments none sided with him. Even his fellow apple fanboys criticised him for his lack of ethical journalistic skills.

Greg Kelly had this to say.
I have been planning on unfollowing BGR on Twitter and Google Reader for a while now, but I finally did it. Not because BGR hates RIM, but because articles like this are embarrasing and amatuer. I’m sorry that RIM didn’t want to give you a Dev Alpha for you to rip on for the next 6 months. Can you really blame them? Stop acting like a 5 year old and focus on your business. Articles like this show your true colors and make people like me stop reading your site. Good bye for good.”

Michael Hayes · Tampa, Florida also added in.
“Congratulations on thoroughly embarrassing yourself today by acting like a 15 year old. With all RIM is doing and has shown with bringing devs and games to the Playbook and BB10, for you to spout off about them bringing huge businesses on board like Cisco and Salesforce is beyond shallow and stubborn. Immediately following those announcements they went right into all the new game partners. Good job.”

MTN 3G SERVICE IS PATHETIC

20120215-081348.jpg

I wish to raise my utter disgust at mtn’s so called 3G service. I’ve been using a blackberry since December 2010 on a top up contract and I’m really disappointed with the service. Most of the time I’m connected to an Edge signal and I can’t even access basic services like bbm, my emails always arrive late and the browser doesn’t open.

Even when its showing 3G signal its the same story. I’m really tired of this , so I’ve decided to change networks. I would appreciate if you guys could help me in selecting the network I can change to. If you have had similar experiences please leave a reply below. Happy networking ciao

HAPPY VALENTINE !!!!

A voice for Zimbabweans in SA

20120213-115827.jpg

I was at a function over the weekend and I was very delighted to meet and converse with my fellow countryman . We pretty much talked about everything from sports, politics and business. One of the ideas that came up was of an Internet radio station. It all started wen we were listening to some old school grooves and we started reminiscing the good old days of Peter Jones , Kudzi Marudza , Kelvin Sifelani and the Hitman . We came to the conclusion that SA radio stations do not cater for our musical tastes as Zimbos and that we might have to start an Internet radio station specifically targeted at Zimbabweans in SA .

So Guys please send us some ideas on how we can hatch this baby up. Even what you might think as a silly idea we will take into consideration .

You can send emails to blessing@mutwira.co.za
